Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) Teacher Training

Earlier today, we received the following email from the Canadian Red Cross in regards to a professional development opportunity for Manitoba high school teachers.  If interested, please follow the instructions below to register.  You may also apply for SRTA PD funding for substitute costs related to this opportunity if you are eligible for in-area funds, but be aware that currently there are no in-area funds available and that your application would be added to a waitlist, if funds become available.

Good Afternoon,

I am writing with regards to an upcoming Canadian Red Cross professional development opportunity for Manitoba high school teachers. The 2019 Manitoba Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) Teacher Training is being offered to high school teachers from March 14-15, 2019 in Winnipeg. This training, organised by the Canadian Red Cross, is free and will likely have wide teacher appeal given the links between Humanitarian Education and global issues impacting many students across the province. The EHL toolkit comes equipped with prepared lesson plans. Two champion teachers from Manitoba will be delivering the training along with delegates from the Red Cross.

It is our hope that you will be able to notify all interested subject area teachers (e.g. social studies, civics, global issues, law, political science, history, geography, philosophy, sociology and more). Please find an attached poster (Ed. note: displayed to the right) that can be shared with teachers or printed to advertise in teacher lounges. Teachers can register online here: https://www.redcross.ca/how-we-help/international-humanitarian-law/conferences-trainings-and-events/mar-14th-to-15th-2019-educator-training-in-winnipeg.
