2016 SRTA and MTS Golf Events Coming Soon
Even though today doesn’t feature the nicest weather, this past weekend did, and perhaps some of you were able to get out on a golf course near you for some fun. We are pleased to once again bring you news of two golf events coming in June, both of which are hosted by the Seine River Teachers’ Association.
On Thursday, June 9, 2016, the Seine River Teachers’ Association is proud to host The 2nd annual Colleen Kachur-Reico Golf Tournament, our annual best ball golf event for SRTA members. You may have seen the event poster at your school this week, but even if you haven’t, you should know that we are returning to the Southside Golf Course, right in between Ile des Chenes and the Perimeter highway, with a 4:30 pm shotgun start. Dinner is included for all participants, and prizes will be available as well. As usual, there is no cost for SRTA members, and non-members are welcome to join for $25.00. For more information, or to sign up as an individual or a team, email Health & Wellness chair Leslie Buffie at health@srteach.org as soon as possible so she can finalize numbers.
A little later in the month, on June 18, 2016, the SRTA is going to be hosting the 2016 Manitoba Teachers’ Society Golf Tournament at Oakwood Golf Course in Ste. Anne. It is a Greenball 3+1 challenge, which means that on every hole, one of the foursome will be golfing as an individual while his/her teammates play the hole as a best ball hole. Then, the scores are combined. It’s going to be a fun afternoon of golf and dinner. The registration fee is $90 per golfer which includes 1/2 power cart, 18 holes of golf, roast beef dinner, and prizes. Individual golfers, pairs, triples or foursomes are welcome. The entry deadline for this tournament is Monday, May 30th, 2016.
To register for the MTS tournament, simply head over to http://srteach.org/mts-golf-tournament-2016-entry/ or download this registration package. While SRTA policy states that the Association will cover the costs of one team, or the equivalent of one team, for the MTS tournament, a motion was passed at the most recent SRTA Council meeting to pay for the registration of an additional team. That means there is funding for eight players!
If you are registering and looking for support from the SRTA, please email president Jonathan Waite (president@srteach.org) so he can make the arrangements with you. Please do this prior to Monday, May 23rd.
