Fab Five 2014
Great news for teachers at the beginning stages of their careers, as once again the Manitoba Teachers’ Society is offering The Fab Five Conference for Teachers in their First Five Years. The event, which has been stages each fall for the past five years, will take place on Wednesday, October 22 (evening) and Thursday, October 23 , 2014 at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.
The Fab Five conference is a set of inspiring and practical workshops and networking opportunities for teachers in their first five years of service. Past feedback from participants has been extremely positive. Workshops have focused on topics such as Inclusive Education, Classroom Management, Planning for a Substitute Teacher, Effective Use of Technology and more.
This fall MTS will hold Fab 5 just before the SAGE Conference day on October 24, so that teachers travelling from outside of Winnipeg can combine Fab 5 with a SAGE conference of their choice in one trip. The conference is open to all teachers in their first five years of service. MTS will subsidize meals, travel and accommodation where required, and registration is only $25. Teachers in the Seine River Teachers’ Association can apply for funding through the SRTA PD Fund once applications are accepted in September.
More detailed information about the conference can be found at the MTS website, where teachers can also register and view the event program. For further information, please email Lia Baksina or Linda Thorlakson at MTS.
