Professional Development Opportunities from MTS

Our friends at the Professional Issues Department of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society are still accepting registrations for some great professional development opportunities coming up soon. The cost for each is $135 to register and with funds still available through the SRTA PD fund now is the time to be a part of these wonderful opportunities. Here is the original message we received from MTS:

On January 20 & 21st, Successfully Bridging the Generation Gap is our workshop facilitated by Eddie Calisto-Tavares. For the purposes of our two-day workshop, we have invited Eddie to facilitate discussions which will help identify characteristics, values, and strengths each generation brings to the table in work places or organizations. Throughout the sessions Eddie will explore strategies to support collaboration and deepen understanding of how and why people from different generations choose to engage in the workplace and professional associations. As we endeavour to engage younger members in our structures, these skills and strategies will help strengthen our associations.

On January 23 & 24th, Making Equity Work in Our Schools is our workshop facilitated by another well-known leader in Equity and Social Justice Education, Dr. Enid Lee. Dr. Lee is known internationally for her work with school and school divisions and is currently working closely with professional staffs in several Winnipeg schools. For the purposes of our two-day workshop, she will concentrate on helping participants understand how to make equity-driven and anti-racist practices effective in improving academic and social outcomes for even the most marginalized students in our schools.

There are still spaces available in most of the workshops but they are quickly filling up! Information about registration is available from our main website www.mbteach.org. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
