Volunteers needed for Canadian Teachers’ Federation AGM
The Manitoba Teachers’ Society is looking to recruit an “army” of volunteers to help out leading up to and during the Canadian Teachers’ Federation Annual General Meeting that MTS is hosting from July 10 through July 12, 2014, at the Fairmont Hotel in Winnipeg. This is the first time in more than 20 years that MTS will be hosting this event.
From Frank Restall, President of the Louis Riel Teachers’ Association: Volunteers will be asked to work in a variety of capacities during the set up and the AGM itself. Members from Associations who can provide time during this week are a necessity. Different tasks might include reception, driving, hosting events, etc. There are volunteer opportunities for all skill sets and interests! Please enlist the support of members from your Association who are interested in volunteering and forward their names and information to Vice-president Norm Gould at ngould@mbteach.org.
In a motion passed at the most recent SRTA council meeting, the Seine River Teachers’ Association will be providing a gift donation for each of the approximately 250 delegates. We hope that in addition to this gift, many of our wonderful association members are able to give their time and energy as a volunteer for this event. We also ask that if you do volunteer, you let us know so that we may recognize you in a future newsletter!
