Frigid temperatures outside can’t stop the exceptional work of SRTA Public Relations chair Ashley McKague for putting together another stellar edition of The Seine Scene. Thanks to her amazing efforts, the January 2026 edition is ready!
This issue of the newsletter features information from SRTA Executive members related to the SRTA Wellness fund, the annual MTS maternity and parental leave seminar, short- and long-term disability premiums, extended health benefits, and the Collective Agreement. We’re also asking people to save the date for Ninawaabamig ~ New Beginnings Paint Night, a new Indigenous wellness event we have coming up in March — more information on that is coming to Council in February.
We have plenty of items from MTS as well, including information about the MTS Women and Leadership Symposium 2026, lesson plans for Resistance on the Giimooch: The Life of Mary Courchene, resources and links related to Black History month, and the Online Safety for MTS Members brochure.
We are also fortunate to have articles from twenty-one of our members who took part in professional development opportunities in November and December. The articles speak to a wide variety of events and university courses, including a group project looking at a universal screener and a university course on adult education. These articles are invaluable for other SRTA members looking for PD of their own, and we thank our members for their contributions to each issue of The Seine Scene.
