$11-million in La Salle School upgrades complete

The now-complete $11-million upgrades to La Salle School are being touted by the province as modern improvements in response to growing classroom sizes in the community southwest of Winnipeg.

Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen and Seine River School Division trustees gathered at the school Tuesday to announce the completion of an addition and renovation to the school, including a new 40-seat child-care centre located next to the school.

The project included a 15,800 square-foot addition to the school, including six regular classrooms and a new gym. The former gym was turned into a library and kindergarten room, while the library is now a “life-skills suite.”

The addition has increased the kindergarten to Grade 8 school’s capacity by 125 students to 450 total. Fall 2019 enrolment numbers exceeded the school’s former capacity by 24 students.
