SRTA Newsletter June 2017

Ten months. 193 school days. The end of the 2016-2017 school year has come, and as staff prepare for their summers, we have the June 2017 edition of the SRTA Newsletter available to read. In this issue, SRTA President Jonathan Waite thanks everyone who contributed to the Association this year, and executive members Rebecca Brown, Lisa Harder, Eric Lindquist, and Brian Trenchard contribute articles on a range of topics. We’ve also included information from MTS, including the speech that MTS President Norm Gould delivered to government officials in May, and on the back cover is information about the new #myteachermystory initiative by MTS. And, as always, some quality articles about professional development, from Members across the division.

June was not a restful month, as we worked with the Division on a bargaining issue related to substitute teachers. We are happy to announce that we have reached an agreement with the SRSD in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding, which you can read more about on page 19 of the newsletter.

The digital version of the newsletter can be found on our Scribd page or by clicking on the image of the newsletter in this post. A print copy will be delivered to all schools and workplaces on the first day back in September.

On behalf of all of us here at the SRTA, we wish our Members a fantastic, restful, memorable summer. Take the time to reflect, review, recharge and renew over the next eight weeks!
