Some updates before Winter Break 2016

On behalf of the Executive of the SRTA, I want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season as we enter the Winter Break tomorrow.  I hope your next two weeks give you an opportunity to surround yourselves with family and friends and merriment.

A handful of updates as we leave 2016 and move towards 2017:

The SRTA December 2016 Newsletter is now available for SRTA members. Inside, you will find the usual amazing articles from fellow Members who have taken advantage of the SRTA PD Fund for a variety of professional development experiences.  We also have updates on TRAF, news about collective bargaining, and tips on how to deal with a busy (and potentially stressful) holiday season.  The digital version of the newsletter can be found on our Scribd page or by clicking on the image of the newsletter in this post. A print copy was sent via courier Tuesday morning for delivery to all workplace/school Council representatives.

The K-8 Report Card Writing Half-Day survey was launched this past Monday, with instructions on how to access the survey sent to Council representatives.  If you work in a K-8 school and have not yet received information on how to take part in this important survey, please email me and I will provide a link to the survey.

As is our custom, in lieu of sending holiday cards to our partners, colleagues and friends across the province, we have sent a digital greeting and donated to three charities that support students and their families in Seine River.  This year, we have sent donations on behalf of the SRTA to the Ile des Chênes Food Bank, Taché Christmas Hampers in Lorette, and the Accueil Kateri Centre in Ste. Anne.  We know the donations will go towards making sure families in our area are supported during the holiday season.

Best wishes to all!  Be safe, happy and healthy this holiday season!
