WELCOM Focus Groups

At the most recent MTS Presidents’ Council meeting at McMaster House, information was shared about upcoming focus groups related to the work being done by the Women in Education Leadership Commission (WELCOM). We are happy to share this information with all of you, and cards will be sent out to all school Council representatives via divisional courier. From MTS:

Do you aspire to leadership positions or currently hold a leadership position within your school and division or within your local association? The Women in Education LeadershipCommission (WELCOM) is inviting women members to participate in focus groups designed to explore their experiences, their goals, the barriers, and the support in
their careers as leaders or aspiring leaders in education.

In order to hear from you, focus groups will be held in the following communities:

  • Thompson – Wednesday, February 8
  • Gimli – Wednesday, February 15
  • Steinbach – Thursday, February 16
  • Carman – Wednesday, March 1
  • Dauphin – Wednesday, March 15
  • Flin Flon – Thursday, March 16

All groups will be held from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Each focus group is limited to a maximum of 12 women. Consideration will be made to ensure diversity of age, years of experience, positions and lived experience. A stipend of $100 will be paid to each of the final participants. A light dinner will be provided.
