SRTA and MTS Golf Events coming soon

It’s time to dust off your clubs and head to the driving range for some practice, as golf season has arrived!

First up, the Seine River Teachers’ Association is proud to host this year’s installment of the annual golf event, but this year we have changed the name to recognize someone very important to the SRTA. The 1st annual Colleen Kachur-Reico Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday, June 11th, 2015 at the Southside Golf Course, right in between Ile des Chenes and the Perimeter highway. This poster should be displayed on your school’s SRTA bulletin board by now as it was given out at the SRTA council meeting on April 28th, but if you’ve missed it, the event will begin with a shotgun start at 4:30 pm and includes a roast beef dinner after golf. It’s a best ball tournament meant to be fun for all, and prizes will be available for the best dressed team, closest to the hole, and lowest team score. There is not cost for SRTA members, and spouses/partners are welcome to join for $25.00. For more information, or to sign up as an individual or a team, email Health & Wellness chair Leslie Buffie at health@srteach.org as soon as possible so she can finalize numbers.

A mere two days later, on Saturday, June 13th, the annual Manitoba Teachers’ Society Golf Tournament will be held at the Portage Golf Club in Portage la Prairie. This year’s event, hosted by the Portage Teachers’ Association, starts with a 1:00 pm shotgun start and is also a fun tournament. For $90.00, golfers will get 18 holes of golf, 1/2 of a power cart, and a steak dinner after the golf. Individual golfers, pairs, triples or foursomes are welcome. The entry deadline for this tournament is Friday, May 29th, 2015.

SRTA policy states that the Association will cover the costs of one team, or the equivalent of one team, for the MTS tournament. If you are registering and looking for support from the SRTA, please email president Jonathan Waite (president@srteach.org) so he can make the arrangements with you. Please do this prior to May 22nd.
