Volunteer Positions at MTS 2015-2016
If you are looking for a way to get involved with the Manitoba Teachers’ Society, you are in luck — they are looking for volunteers for the 2015-2016 school year. You can influence the course of public education by lending your input and expertise to one of many MTS committees. Even if you’ve never volunteered before, they would welcome putting your name on their volunteer list.
This year, I was fortunate to be selected to be part of the Professional Development Standing Committee, as well as the Workplace Safety and Health Standing Committee. I had an amazing and inspiring year working behind the scenes on initiatives and event that benefited many of my fellow members. The discussions that took place during committee meetings were thoughtful and thought-provoking, and helped me to better understand the role the Society plays in the lives of all of its members. Speaking personally, I feel being part of these committees was an excellent way to develop as an educator and a leader.
If you’re selected to sit on a committee, you’ll get some important and satisfying work, plus:
- Direct influence in committees that help shape the direction of education in Manitoba.
- Unparalleled opportunities to network with educators across Manitoba.
- A firsthand look at changes and trends in public education.
