PD Opportunities – uLead and Save Your Sanity
Two unique opportunities for professional development have popped up on our radar which might be of interest to association members, so if you’re looking for PD sessions focused on leadership and classroom management, these may pique your interest (and may also qualify for PD funding).
The uLead 2015 conference (http://www.ulead.ca/Welcome.html) will be taking place March 15-18, 2015. Dubbed The Summit of Educational Leadership the organizers state that, “[a] unique opportunity awaits to join educational leaders from around the world in the beautiful world heritage location of Banff, Alberta at Canada’s premier conference for school-based leaders, district-level leaders, and provincial and state education leaders.” The line-up of speakers includes notable names, such as Simon Breakspear, Ron Canuel and Christopher Branson. Early bird pricing is in effect until the end of November, so if you are interested, head over to the conference web site.
Closer to home is the latest session in the popular Save Your Sanity series, called Proactive Strategies for Children with Challenging Behaviour. Speaker Colleen DeVeyrac has led workshops which, “concentrate on presenting those skills and strategies to increase resiliency in students as well as providing specific strategies for educators to decrease their stress levels and reactions to challenging situations.” This one-day workshop takes place on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg. To register, please see this PDF (from the Save Your Sanity website) for details.
As always, the latest news about the SRTA PD fund and PD opportunities can be found on our Professional Development page.
